Mark Cahill

  -  Principal 


Mark has over 19 years' experience in teaching, sport and leadership roles and joins us from the senior leadership team at the 'Outstanding' Ivybridge Community College, where he was Assistant Principal.  A keen sportsman, Mark gained his original teaching degree at Marjon and played at national level for the Plymouth Raiders basketball team for seven years.  He believes in the potential of sport to enable student success and self-esteem, and will be combining this with a solid foundation of teaching and learning to meet the needs and aspirations of all our learners.


Emma Herod

  -  Deputy Principal 


With a degree in English and  Sport Science and Masters in the Sociology of Sport, Emma has experience of teaching English, Philosophy, RE and PE at every level. She joins the school from East Norfolk Sixth Form college where she also ran a Sport Journalism course as part of sixth form enrichment activities. She believes in keeping course content fresh, exciting and relevant and in helping every student to fulfil their own individual potential .

Rebecca Carver

  -  Modern Foreign Languages 


With a degree in Modern Foreign Languages, Rebecca has 17 years’ experience in teaching French, German, Spanish and English at GCSE, A level and Foundation Degree. She joins Plymouth Studio School from City College Plymouth where she was Academy Manager for A levels and GCSEs.

Jon Rhodes

  -   Associate Principal - Performance and Strategy 


Chartered Psychologist,  Jon Rhodes is a specialist in sport science and performance and has worked with top athletes including GBR Judo, the LTA, Premiership Football and Rugby teams, and GBR Fencing athletes.  He worked closely with athletes for the Rio Olympics in 2016 and is an associate lecturer in Psychology at Plymouth University.  Jon leads the Sport Performance Programme for PSS athletes and teaches as part of the Psychology and PE curriculums.


Kerrie Nicholls

  -  Assistant Principal - Data and Progress, SENDco & Safeguarding, Head of Maths 


With a background in Civil Engineering, Kerrie brings with her experience of using maths in a practical and work-based environment and an inspiring approach to teaching maths in the classroom.  She joins PSS from South Dartmoor Community College, where as well as teaching maths she also taught as part of a Learning Enrichment Centre, helping pupils with low literary and numeracy levels and/or Special Educational Needs to progress.


Steve Mooney

  -  Assistant Principal - Key Stage 4 and Curriculum. 


With a BSc in Sport Science and MSc in Recreation Management, Steve has over 20 years' experience in teaching and working with national sporting bodies, including the FA, RFU, Badminton England and Netball England.  He joins from East Norfolk College where he has overseen a Sports coaching programme which has produced 1,500 qualified coaches over six different sports, helping the college to win a BBC regional award for Sports School of the Year.  Steve has recently won the Herald Sports Awards 'Sport Teacher of the Year' award.




Alison Kelly

  -  Head of PE and Humanities 


A former Marjons sports and teaching student, Alison returns to Plymouth after teaching in Somerset.  She is a swimmer and tri-athlete and is competing in her second half Iron Man this year.  She believes in working with students on a one-to-one basis.


Katherine Endacott -Foster

  -  Personal Coach  


Commonwealth Gold and Silver 100m sprint and relay medalilst and Plymouth Athletics Club Coach, Katherine Endacott-Foster co-ordinates personal training programmes for  sports students, including strength and conditioning.

Patricia Donahue

  -  Head of Science 


Patricia  has been teaching Science at every level for the past 12 years.  She has relocated from Kent to join us and enjoys walking and tennis.


Dan Gill

  -  Head of Business and IT  


Dan Gill teaches BTEC Level 1 / 2  and 3 Business Studies and has set up important connections with Plymouth University, The National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Albion RFC, Plymouth Crown and County Court and Parliament to give students the opportunity to see business in action and meet guest speakers.

He is also an experienced sports coach and has taught scholarship courses for Plymouth Albion and Plymouth Radiers and manages the U14/U15s for Plymouth Schools FA.


Ben Cooper

  -  Teacher of English  


Ben believes  that English and literacy skills should be integrated into every subject and learning should be fun.  He is also a trained PE teacher and enjoys Badminton, Rugby, Basketball and Street Surfing.


Duncan Hefford

  -  Teacher of Maths 


Duncan is passionate about teaching maths and is also a former squash professional and cricket coach.


Berenice Williamson-Firth

  -  PA to Principal/Office Manager/Clerk to Governors 


With a background in administration which includes working for GOSW, Berenice has worked in the education sector for over seven years.  Her previous roles include Education Programme Coordinator and Cover Manager.


Ellie Bushell

  -  Receptionist 


Ellie has a background in customer service with Nuffield Healthcare and is your first point of contact when calling the school.


Simon Payne

  -  Premises Manager  


Simon has a military and policing background and spent over 30 years with the Sussex and Metropolitan police force.  He enjoys cycling and skiing and is a member of the Army Reserves.  He is responsible for the smooth running of the building and many other tasks!


Will Razey

  -  Science Technician 


Will is currently studying for a degree in Environmental Biology at Plymouth University. He provides support for the science department and assists with the practical running of the science laboratory.


John Deacon

  -  Teacher of Science 

John has a long career in Education which has included time as  a Headteacher of two school and Heads of Chemistry and Science in Grammer and Comprehensive schools. He has also worked as a Schools inspector and Lectured at Plymouth University and City College .His passion is Chemistry which he has taught at all levels .He thoroughly enjoys teaching at PSS at GCSE /A level where small groups allow dedicated approaches and links with Marjon.
