Steve Pooley and Eugon Grace of Albion Community and Academy

Talented young rugby players in Plymouth will now be able to tap into specialist coaching from Plymouth Albion rugby coaches as part of Plymouth Studio School’s unique High Performance Sports Programme for young athletes.

The new coaching opportunities for promising young rugby stars come as part of a new link-up between Plymouth Albion and the specialist sports school, which is based on-site at Marjon.

Steve Pooley of Plymouth Albion’s Community and Academy department comments, “This is a great opportunity for young rugby players as young as 14 to start getting the specialist coaching they need as part of their school timetable.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to work with the Sports Performance team at Plymouth Studio School to help in developing the next generation of talented young rugby players.”

Rugby players joining the school will also be able to combine their Albion training sessions with specialist strength and conditioning, sports psychology and sports nutrition support as part of the school’s High Performance Sports Programme.  They’ll also have access to the state-of-the-art training facilities on-site at the school and Marjon.

Strengthening the links further, Albion scrum-half, Cameron Setter, will also be joining the Plymouth Studio School teaching team next year

Jon Rhodes, Head of Sports Performance for Plymouth Studio School comments “We already have a number of talented rugby players at the school, so it’s great to be able to offer specialist coaching from Albion to help them develop further.”
