Plymouth Cup Semi-Final Result

Studio School 6-3 Eggbuckland (aet)

Studio School advanced into the U18 Plymouth Cup final after a hard fought win against Eggbuckland.

Studio School started the better out of the 2 teams and created some half chances without troubling the Eggbuckland ‘keeper. Against the run of play, Studio School were caught on the break and Eggbuckland went 0-1 up. Jay Hamley nearly equalised after lobbing the Eggbuckland ‘keeper but seeing his effort hit the top of the bar.

Studio School did equalise after good work from Lewis McKean, his shot was spilled and Hamley anticipated the quickest and slot the rebound home from an acute angle.

Poor defending from Studio School gave Eggbuckland a 1-2 lead going into half-time. A silly mistake was given away and the Eggbuckland attackers were allowed 2 free headers inside the 6 yard box, with the second header going in after a good save from Studio School ‘keeper Alfie Hawking.

Studio School started the second half brightly, with Joe Lynch bringing the ball forward out from the back. His run then set up Sam Brotherton who made the score 2-2. James Deforges then made the score 3-2 with a good solo effort.

With time running out, Studio School looked to have done enough but with a couple minutes to go, again poor defending led to Eggbuckland getting an equaliser and taking the game into extra-time.

Studio School dominated the extra-time, and took a 4-3 lead when Kane Mildren cut inside and slotted home from the edge of the box. Desforges then picked the ball up from inside his own half, went on another run and cooly slotted home to make the score 5-3. Mildren then completed the scoring when he took advantage of a tired Eggbuckland defence to make the final score 6-3.
