Plymouth Schools U18 Cup

Studio School 2-2 Lipson

(Studio School won 4-2 on penalties)

Studio School advanced to the second round of the Plymouth Schools U18 Cup to set up a fixture against Eggbuckland after a testing game against a well organised Lipson side.

Studio School started well, playing some nice football but went behind when a rare Lipson attack resulted in a superb strike from 25 yards to beat ‘keeper Ollie Parsons.

Studio School soon equalised when Joe Lynch’s cross/shot went directly in over the Lipson ‘keepers head. Studio School then continued to press forward but again went behind on another Lipson counter-attack.

5 minutes before half-time, Jay Hamley equalised again for Studio School after good footwork before calmly slotting the ball home.

The second half could have gone either way, with both sides creating some half-chances, but neither side being able to capitalise on them.

As the game was a cup game, it went to penalty kicks.

Studio School didn’t miss a penalty, with Sam Morcom, Kane Mildren, Bailey Parnell and Jay Hamley all scoring. Lipson only scored 2 of the 4 they took.

Man of the match – Jake Lewis.

Great captains performance, leading by example throughout.
