Taylor Competes in World Championships

Year 12 student Taylor Foxwell-Moss travelled to Verona, Italy to compete in the fencing World Championships. Taylor competed in the Individual event and with her initial ranking saw her come face to face with an extremely tough set of competitors in her poule of 6.  Channeling her experience from Sochi, Taylor and her coach set about attacking the competitors and putting into practice lessons learnt from Europeans. All fights were extremely close and although Taylor came away with V2 – D3 she lost by only 1 point in each of the 3 fights.

Her coach was delighted with her performance overall, stating that he was exceptionally pleased with Taylor’s attitude, maturity and competitiveness as well as her understanding of the level at which she was fencing.  However, this was nothing compared to the feeling he felt when one of the top and most respected coaches in the world (he has an 2016 Olympic Gold and silver medalist to his name as well as previous Olympic medallists) came up to compliment Taylor on her fencing!

So after an extremely competitive and exhausting season, Taylor finishes with a top 50 in Europe and a top 100 in the World!

A fantastic achievement, well done Taylor!
